Random Trees

made by a food forager and a code cop

  • Click on New Tree to generate a random Galton-Watson tree with offspring distribution selected in the radio buttons. To avoid too large trees, we condition on size less than 200.
  • Big Tree also generates a tree from this distribution, but conditioned to have over 67 nodes.
  • Nodes are coloured and numbered according to their multiplicity, which is defined later in the main text.
  • To draw your own tree, use Draw Tree. In draw mode, click on an existing node in the tree (when your cursor is a cross) to begin a new edge, and click again somewhere else in the canvas (when your cursor is a black circle) to draw the second node and complete the edge.
